The Pride of Post marching band performed their Western half time show on Saturday, October 20 Lubbock's Lowery Field for the regional UIL Marching contest.

Each of the three judges gave the Post band a first place grade and a division one rating.

Band Director Aaron Rathbun informed The Garza Post that he is "really pleased with the progress of the kids and love the support of our crowds."  This year is the first time that 8th grade musicians were added to the high school marching band.

Saturday's competition was the last for the marching bands because "this is not an advancing year," said Rathubun.  "So we will start concentrating on individual events like solo and ensemble for February,  all-state and all-region events in December and January."

The music director has high hopes for this year's group of players.  "My goal is for half the band to compete at the state level in solo and ensemble in May 2013.  We missed that goal by 5 kids last year.  (Bernie) Tackitt (assistant director) and I will provide music and inspiration if the kids will provide perspiration."
