District Gridiron Preview

Week 6 starts a new season

Published Oct. 10, 2012 @ 10:45 p.m.

The Bold Gold varsity football team is just one win away from matching the number of wins compiled in the past two seasons with five games left on the 2012 agenda.  All five are more important than the first five resulting in a 4-1 pre-district season record.

All the marbles will be gathered in the ever so important District 2-2A, Division II season for the Antelopes who were preseason picks to finish last or second to last depending on the publication.  The Lope's look to role the preseason success into district starting at Lubbock-Rooselvelt Friday with kickoff at 7:30 p.m.

The Eagles have suffered so far this season without a win and take a 0-5 record into the Post game.  Both teams are coming off restful bye weeks.

Other district action includes Abernathy (4-1) at Tulia (3-2) and Floydada (2-3) at Olton (1-4).

The Junior Varsity Lopes will host the Roosevelt Eagles Thursday at 6:00 p.m. while the junior high teams will travel to take on the Eagles starting with the B-team game at 4:30 p.m.  The 7th grade and then the 8th grade games will follow.

The last time Post and Roosevelt met was in 2009 when the Bold Gold won 40-11 at home.

The weather forecast for Friday night calls for a chance of thunderstorms and 73 degrees.  If you can't make the trip to Acuff, listen to live play-by-play action on PostSportsRadio.com.

Here's how District 2-2A, Division II has shaped up going into the first week of district play.
