Smiles Basketball Classic a Success

Published June 13, 2012 @ 12:39 p.m.

More than 200 third through eigth grade boys and girls played multiple games last Friday and Saturday at the Post ISD basketball venues for three reasons:  to improve their game, have fun and raise money for a worthy local cause.

"The 1st Brynne's Smiles Classic Basketball Tournament was awesome," said Maggie Bigham, founder of Brynne's Smiles the local non-profit foundation designed to support families and individuals in need.

The tournament was organized by Post Youth Athletic Group.  PYAG's Director of Programs Becky Justice told The Garza Post that "Post youth benefited from a wonderfully competitive tournament and the event raised $2080.00 for Brynne's Smiles."

Bigham expressed her appreciation saying "thank you PYAG for putting on a great tournament. A huge thank you to all who organized, worked and played. Not only did we raise money to share with others, we had a great time getting to know a lot of new friends and spreading the word to so many other towns. Great job PYAG! We look forward to more events in the future."

Justice added "our teams would like to express appreciation to Post ISD for allowing PYAG the use of the facilities to host our events.  Although the teams of Post did not claim any medals this weekend, they played hard and represented their teams and Post well."
