Post Suffers at Forsan

FORSAN - There was plenty of basketball excitement at the Forsan High School gym Tuesday, but the Post teams were outlasted by the Buffaloes and Lady Buffs at both the junior varsity and varsity levels.

The District 3-2A contests were the first for both schools in the New Year, 2012.  All games were closer than the scores show due to Forsan's success at the free throw line when Post had to foul to stop the clock toward the end of the games.

The Post Lady Lopes varsity took a five point advantage into the final period and were shocked when Forsan tied the game with a 3-pointer and and lay-up in the first minute of the fourth.  The Lady Buffs outscored Post 23-11 to finish the game with their second district win now with a 2-2 record.  Post, now 1-3, received balanced scoring from all the players and were led by Haily Berry and Matti Smith's 8 points apiece and Shirley Araiza had 6.

The Bold Gold Antelopes varsity and the Forsan Buffaloes were tied at half-time at 19, but Forsan was able to to claim a victory from the free throw line shooting 8 for 8 in the fourth quarter to win 41-34.  Dalton Holly was Post's top scorer with 9 followed by Corbin McDonald's 8 points and Jake Perez's 7.  Forsan is undefeated in district play at 2-0 and the Lopes are now 0-2.

The junior varsity scores were Forsan 25, Post 14 (girls) and Forsan 40, Post 34 (boys).
