McDonald Announces Candidacy
Post ISD School Board
Published April 17, 2012 @ 7 p.m.
I, Nancy (McCowen) McDonald, am enthusiastically announcing my intent to run for a seat on the Post Independent School District Board of Directors.
After graduating from Post High School, I attended Texas Tech University and obtained a degree in Elementary Education with a Math specialization. I will graduate from Sul Ross State University in August 2012 with a Masters Degree in Animal Science. I have also obtained several certifications including Texas Secondary Mathematics, National Family and Consumer Sciences, & National Child Passenger Safety Seat Technician
I taught 6th grade mathematics in Post Middle School from 1986-1993, Algebra and Geometry from 1994- 2002 and Family and Consumer Sciences from 2002-2006. Since 2006, I have been employed with Texas AgriLife Extension Service - The Texas A&M System and Garza County as the Family and Consumer Sciences Agent.
Many of you know my husband, Dennis McDonald, and my sons, Trent and Dakota. I am proud to say, they too graduated (or will graduate this year) from Post ISD. I believe as a parent there are many skills and experiences beyond academics that help develop our children into productive citizens. I believe Post schools offer those experiences.
I am passionate about the Post school system. I believe I have the necessary experience to be a school board member that will continue to look into the future for the best of all our children. As a part of this community and school system for many years, it is my turn to give back to a system that has given my family so much. I will serve with humility, lead with passion and commit to excellence. I sincerely appreciate your votes.
