Council Members Pixie Grisham (Ward 2) Anita Morris (Ward 5) and Mayor Thressa Harp were in Houston on October 11-14, 2011, for the Texas Municipal League (TML) 99th Annual Conference and Exhibition.
The theme of this year's conference and exhibition was "Winning Game Plans for Texas Cities," and the four day meeting provided an opportunity for city officials to attend workshops addressing current municipal issues. In addition, the conference offered a chance to visit with elected and appointed officials from across Texas to learn how other cities are coping with the challenges facing local governments today.
During the meeting, conference attendees were offered a number of sessions on leadership principles, ethical responsibilities, emergency preparedness, communication skills, technology, and much more. Delegates also had the opportunity to hear presentations by Dr. Lowell Catlett from Las Cruces, NM; Evan Smith from Austin, TX and Dr. Will Miller from Lafayette, IN.
More than 4,000 city officials, guests, and exhibitors attended the conference, which was sponsored by the Texas Municipal League.
The City of Post is a member of the TML, a voluntary association of more than 1,115 Texas cities.
