The Post FFA Horse judging team completed a successful season this year competing at 6 contests, finishing in the top ten at 5 of these, with numerous top-placing individuals. When the season started the team set a goal to win the State competition and came very close to doing so.
At the Area 1and Area 11 contests at Texas Tech University the Post team was 3rd overall, winning first in Area 11 and first in Mesa Dist. qualifying them for the State Competition.
The State Contest is comprised of the top qualifying teams of each area in the state. The Post team had a tie score for first, but placed second through a tie breaker. The team had two top ten individuals and one top 20. Taylor Osborn was 4th High Point Individual; Matti Smith was 10th High Point Individual and Lana Kitten was the 14th High Point Individual. There were 259 individuals competing and 66 teams at the state contest. “I’m so proud of these four girls; they worked hard and always had a great attitude,” said Perry Smith, Post advisor.
