Ambulance Drivers Needed for Local EMS

Published July 6, 2011 @ 9:42 p.m.

Due to a shortage of daytime staff the Post-Garza County EMS received a variance from the Texas Department of State Health Services.  The variance allows the local EMS to transport a patient to the hospital with only one Certified ECA, EMT, EMT-I or Paramedic.  Prior to this change the ambulance service could only respond to calls if two certified crew members were on the ambulance.

Rodney Tidwell of the Post-Garza County EMS is now looking for people who are interested in driving an ambulance and become a member of the local EMS team.  There will be some driving training and qualifications required before you can drive and that training will begin very soon.  In addition to driving, there will be some patient contact but no decision making or patient care will be required.

For more information, please call Tidwell at 806-620-0960.  A class for drivers only will be held as soon as we have a list of those interested.
