The Post FFA was well represented at the 83rd Annual Texas FFA Convention. The estimated attendance was 10,000 at the event staged at Texas Tech University in Lubbock from July 11th through the 15th. Ag teachers Lance Dunn and Perry Smith sponsored eleven youth from Post High School.
This is Lubbock's second time playing host for the annual convention. The first time was in 2008.
The activities and competitions for the thousands of participats ranged from public speaking to rodeo and agriscience events.
Things got under way for PHS's Matti Smith, Seth and Paden Babb, Taylor Osborn, Blaine Osborn, and Dakota McDonald when they helped clean and organize for the rodeo activities.
At the rodeo Lana Kitten participated in the barrell race, Dakota McDonald in calf roping, and Matti Smith finished 4th in round two of the goat tying event. Matti also participated in barrell racing and break away roping.
Others attending the convention were Callie Odom, Kari and Katie Dunn, and Sara Greer.
Greer was elected a voting delegate by Post FFA members who attended the convention. She'll represent PHS in the Area II FFA organization.
The Josh Abbot Band concert and the annual talent show and dance were crowd favorites at this year's convention.
