Texas is stepping up efforts to catch drunk drivers as today the state becomes the first in the country to institute a statewide no-refusal campaign for the July 4 holiday weekend. The long weekend has repeatedly ranked as the deadliest holiday of the year for alcohol-related crashes.
More than 200 law enforcement agencies across the state will seek warrants to draw blood from any driver suspected of drinking who refuses to submit to a breathalyzer test. The crackdown begins at 6 p.m. Friday, July 1 and ends at 6 a.m., Tuesday, July 5.
