One Post athelete attended the Texas Amateur Athletic Federation's Summer Games of Texas 2011.

PHS freshmen Kelbie Oden, competed in four events at the youth track and field meet at Waco, July 28th through the 31st.

Oden finished 18th in the long jump, 10th in the high jump, 25th place in the 200 meter dash and 16th in the state in the 400 meter dash.  Kelbie explained "there were many girls from different parts of Texas that had a lot of talent, and it was way bigger than I expected.  Some of these girls have been doing the summer track meets since they were little, and next year I will know what to expect."

She told Coach Richard Soliz that his instruction before the meet "definitely paid off".  Soliz was not able to make the trek to Waco, but Kelbie's aunt, Coach Christie Parlsey of Lubbock Cooper, accompanied the Post youth.

Oden concluded that "after the meet I felt relieved and satisfied about my results. I will be doing the track meet again next year and will definitely know what to expect and be ready for competition."
