The Post Lady Lopes volleyball team took a well deserved break over the weekend after winning their second game of the young season in a non-district match last Tuesday night against Knox City at Antelope Arena.
The game was won in three sets. Head Coach Charlyn Hohman told The Garza Post that "this game will always be a memorable game for me for what the team accomplished. Last weekend our senior setter and leader, Kayla Comeaux injured her knee in the Littlefield tournament. A freshman, Brogan Macy was called up from JV to be the starting setter. At a time when everything could fall apart the team bonded together, came up with new volleyball cheers and communicated better than ever before on the court."
In the first set the game was close with the lead changing often. The second set started in Knox City's favor with at one point them holding an 8-2 lead.
The Lady lopes rallied back when Maggie Shelton went to the service line scoring thirteen points in a row with three aces. The third set Brogan Macy led the way serving ten of the 25 points with four aces. "Brogan did a wonderful job setting with 17 assists, said Hohman. Senior leader Haily Berry had a block, eight kills and eleven digs on the night. Sophomore Kelbie Oden had a block, five kills and seven digs. Junior Sara Greer had a block and four kills.
Sophomore Callie Odom, playing the librero position, had a kill and nine digs. Junior Matti Smith added two assists, Freshman Lauren Record had three kills and a block from the middle blocker spot. Sophomore Maggie Shelton also provided great defense with eight digs.
With five games and two tournaments under their belts, the Lady Lopes will and travel to Littlefield on Tuesday for another non-district contest.
