Antelope Teams Dominate Tahoka

8th Grader Lopez kicks 44 yard field goal

POST JV 32, TAHOKA JV 6 (9/20/12)

TAHOKA - Coach Jerry Pyles –  The JV Antelopes (4-0) scored 32 unanswered points in beating the Tahoka Bulldogs (0-3) 32-6 Thursday Night in Tahoka.

The Bulldogs scored first to take an early 6-0 lead.  The Lopes responded quickly by scoring and converting the PAT to take the lead 8-6 to never trail in the game gain.  Cambry Gilbert scored from 5 yards out and Gilbert also added the 2 point run.  The score would remain 8-6 for the rest of the first half.

The Lopes would score 21 points in the 3rd quarter to put the game out of reach for the Bulldogs.  Blaine Reece returned the second half kickoff 65 yards for a Lope TD.  Reece also added the 2 point conversion.  On the Bulldogs next possession defensive tackle Fabian Marquez recovered a fumble to give Post great field position.  Reece scored his second TD of the night racing 35 yards around left end to make the score 22-8.  The PAT kick was blocked.

Christian Perez stepped in front of the Bulldog receiver for his 2nd INT of the season.  The next play Reece hit WR Shandon Wiley down the right sideline for a 35 yard TD. Aron Lopez' kick brought the score to 29-6.

The Lopes final score of the night would be after the offense stalled, the FG team took the field and Lopez booted a 44 yd FG bringing the score to 32-6.

The JV will travel to Denver City on Thursday, Sept, 27 for a 6:00 kickoff.  The following week the Bold Gold will be open and then begin district on Oct. 4 vs. Roosevelt.

POST 8th 30, TAHOKA 8th 0 (9/20/12)

REDMAN STADIUM – Coach Michael Pittman - The 8th grade football team ran their record to 2-0 for the year with a 30-0 victory over Tahoka.

The antelopes used a strong ground game as well as a defensive touchdown to beat Tahoka.

A.J. Reed scored the first touchdown on a 15 yard run in the first quarter.  The PAT was no good.

The second score came on 35 yard fumble return by A.J. Bedo followed by Auggie Menchaca’s  two point conversion. 

In the second quarter A.J. Reed scored his second touchdown of the night on a 30 yard run. Auggie Menchaca ran in the two point conversion.

The final score of the game came on a 60 yard run by Auggie Menchaca.  The two point conversion try was no good.

The Antelopes next game will be against Denver City at home on 9/27/12.
