Post JV Rolls Over Floydada

FLOYDADA - The Post Antelopes JV (7-1, 2-0) defeated Floydada JV 40-8 on Thursday.

The Lopes scored early and often.  Christian Saucedo got Post on the board early in the first quarter.  with runs of  one and four yards.  Jared Curtis and Blaine Reece added the 2-point plays after each score.

Saucedo and Reece continued scoring for Post during the second quarter. Reece would have a 50 yard run for a touchdown.  The PAT failed.  On the Whirlwinds next possession, Saucedo stripped the ball from the ball carrier to race 55 yards the other way giving Post a 28-8 halftime lead.

The Antelopes received the second half kickoff and Christian Perez was credited with a 62 yard kickoff return.  He actually covered about 90 on the play after Perez caught the ball in front of the Lope sideline, ran to get behind the wall then was forced across the field where he found running room in front of the Winds bench.  Perez made a cut across the field before scoring the touchdown.  Saucedo added another four yard touchdown run to close out the scoring.

Due to injuries, Post made some changes on the offensive line and Tristan Fannon, Blake Boren, Jabren Rodriguez, Edel Sanchez , Alex Ramirez and David Hernandez all played well.

The defense put pressure on the Winds throughout the game.

Up next: the JV Lopes play Idalou on Thursday, Nov, 1, at 5:00 p.m. in a non-district match-up at Jimmy Redman Stadium.  (Another district opponent, Olton, cancelled their JV season.)
