The Caprock Cultural Association will host the C. W. Post Annual Birthday Celebration, October 26, 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Heritage House.

The community is invited to enjoy refreshments and celebrate our heritage.  A photography exhibit featuring the work of architect Louis Singleton Curtiss will be on display for the first time.  Curtiss, a nationally recognized architect who lived in Kansas City, designed the Santa Fe Depot in Post as well as many other innovative buildings including the Tarrant County Courthouse.  The exhibit was developed by the Caprock Cultural Association with funding from the Texas Historical Foundation.  After this initial showing in Post, the exhibit will travel to other Texas cities.

At 5:30 p.m. Pat Cruse, in period costume, will present a short interpretation of the story of Sojourner Truth, a freed slave woman who traveled throughout the United States in the mid-19th century speaking about the abolition of slavery, women’s rights and prison reform. Truth died in1883, at her home in Battle Creek, Michigan, and was buried at Oak Hill Cemetery in Battle Creek which also became the final resting place of C. W. Post after his death in 1914.

The Post Area Chamber of Commerce will again provide free commemorative coins and posters from past Post Founders’ Day events and the 2007 Centennial event to those attending.
