Candidate filing deadline for a place on the ballot for Post City Council, Post Independent School District Board of Trustees, Garza County Health Care District Board and the Garza County Underground Water Conservation District Board is by the end of regular business hours on Monday, March 5 at the respective offices of each entity.  Hours may vary at the different offices.

The elections for all of these entities are set for Saturday, May 12, 2012.  Below is how each of the elections is shaping up as of 8:00 a.m. Monday, March 5:

City Council positions on the ballot are Wards 3, 4 and 5.  So far, incumbent Anita Morris of Ward 5 is the only person who has filed for candidacy.  Less Looney is the current councilman for Ward 3 and Mark Short for Ward 4.

Three at-large Post school board trustee positions currently held by Alexa Collier, Milton Williams and Mike Holly will be on the ballot this year.  Holly, Williams and Ted Thomas have filed for a place on the ballot.

The Garza County Health Care District election will involve two precincts and the at-large seat.  At press time, Brandt Taylor and Ray Bagby have filed for their current positions.   Taylor holds the at-large spot on the board and Bagby represents Precinct 2.  Also on the ballot will be the Precinct 1 position currently held by Edna Owen.

The Garza County Underground Water Conservation District board, with an office at the courthouse, will have two positions on the ballot currently held by Ferrel Wheeler, Precinct 1, and Ronnie Graves of Precinct 3.  Both have filed for reelection.

In the event that no one files or if a candidate is unopposed, the election for that position and/or entity will be cancelled.

All the entities will hold early voting at their respective offices.  Then on Election Day, May 12, the Post Community Center will be the place to vote in the various entities' elections.
