Free symposium in Snyder

The Scurry County Museum in Snyder, Texas announces a lineup of great speakers for a free event about the law enforcement Texas Rangers on Saturday, July 7. 

Museum Director Daniel Schlegel, Jr. said “we have a great lineup of four speakers and they are all excellent speakers and experts in their subjects.” 

The museum has a "meet and greet" planned the evening before the event at the Manhattan Coffeehouse on the south side of the Snyder square. 

The main event kicks off on Saturday with a breakfast at the Scurry County Museum on the campus of Western Texas College at 9:00 am.  Then speakers will be on the hour: 10:00 a.m. with “Ranger Ray” Martinez speaking about creating the professional Texas Lawman including the events at the UT bell tower in 1966; at 11:00 a.m. Harold Weiss will speak about Texas Ranger Captain Bill McDonald; at 1:00 p.m. Chuck Parsons will discuss Texas Ranger John R. Hughes; and Norm Brown is on at 2:00 pm speaking on Frontier Ranger John Elkins and associates.
