There are still some places available for the photography workshop taught by Wyman Meinzer in Post, August 4.  The official State Photographer will return to Post August 4 for a Night Photography Workshop.  Meinzer will teach participants how to paint with light and how to shoot in moonlight.
Sponsored by the Caprock Cultural Association of Post, the event will begin with a casual supper with Meinzer at 6:30 p.m. Saturday, August 4 followed by the night photography class. Participants will photograph locations near Post with instruction from Meinzer. To ensure personalized attention, the class is limited to 15.
 
Cost for the entire event is $200 per person. One-half of the fee (non-refundable) is due at the time you make your reservation with the balance due at the event. Note: The first 15 paid in full get a place in the workshop.  The Photography Workshop will be at the Heritage House, 109 North Avenue N, Post, TX. You may pay your fee by check, MasterCard or VISA. Wyman Meinzer, who has a stellar reputation for his personal attention to his students, is the only official State Photographer of Texas. He received this honor in 1997 by the Texas State Legislature and then Gov. George W. Bush and still holds it today.
 
Raised on the League Ranch, 1 27,000-acre ranch in the rolling plains of Texas, Meinzer graduated from Texas Tech in 1974 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Wildlife Management and was voted Outstanding Alumnus in 1987 by the department of Range and Wildlife Management at Texas Tech University. He also received the Distinguished Alumnus award in 1995 from the School of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources. The photographer was selected Texas Tech Mass Communications Teacher of the Year in 2005 and received the Distinguished Alumnus award from the university in 2009 recognizing his outstanding achievement and dedicated service.

After 33 years as a professional photographer, Meinzer has photographed and/or written 24 plus photography books, and his images have appeared on more than 250 magazine covers as well as on numerous book covers for other authors’ works. His images have appeared in Smithsonian, National Geographic Books, Natural History, Time, Newsweek, U.S. News and World Report, Audubon, Sports Afield, Field and Stream, Outdoor Life, Texas Parks and Wildlife, Texas Highways, Korea GEO, German GEO, Das Tier, Airone, Horzu, BBC Wildlife, and many others. Participants in the Night Photography class should know how to adjust their individual camera’s basic settings; how to set their shutter speed and adjust the aperture settings manually. Also, make sure you are familiar with how to adjust your ISO, white balance, and operate your shutter release cable or remote. You will need a sturdy tripod for long exposures. However, if you are a beginner and wish to participate, let us know ahead of time and plan to come early as there will not be time for individual instruction during the workshop. Equipment needed: wide angle lens with zoom (28-80), camera with bulb setting, tripod,and a cable release.
