The Garza County Community Recovery Center will hold its 4th annual Fall Fundraiser Saturday, Sept. 24, 6:30 p.m. at the Post Community Center.  Reservations are required.

“We appreciate Garza County, the City of Post and our individual supporters for helping make these annual events successful,” said Chris Atkinson, Director of the Community Recovery Center.  “All proceeds from this event go to provide services to the residents of Garza County and will be used locally.”  Atkinson explained that each year the event has grown requiring a move to the Community Center this year to accommodate the anticipated crowd.

Attendees will be treated to a steak dinner prepared by Catering From the Heart.  Entertainment will be provided by recording artist Kenny Maines.  Evangelist Rickey Lawrence is the featured speaker for the event and the Giles C. McCrary Award will be presented.

The rich musical history of Kenny Maines is well known in this area and those attending the CRC Fundraiser can be sure of enjoyable, top quality entertainment.  He has performed for many years both solo and with the Maines Brothers Band.  In 1992, Kenny was elected Lubbock County Commissioner and held that position for 12 years.  In 2004, he decided to leave the political arena and return to the music he loves. Since that time, Kenny has produced three solo CDs: "Kenny Maines,” "Out of Control" and "Kenny Maines: A Tribute to the Music of Hank Williams.”

The inspirational speaker for the event is Rickey Lawrence who explains on his web site that his profession “is being a Peace Officer, his passion is cowboying, but his true calling is preaching the gospel of Jesus Christ.”  Lawrence is currently Chief Deputy for Cottle County, Paducah, TX.  After pasturing the Roaring Springs Full Gospel Church from 1993 until 2004, Lawrence “turned to just evangelizing and spreading the good News of Jesus anyway” he can.

There will also be a silent auction as well as some “live” auction items.  “This year we are posting some of the auction items online for ‘sneak peeks’ at https://www.garzacrc.com/," said Atkinson.  “Click on ‘Fall Fundraiser Update’ to view the auction items.”

Please look for your “save the date card” that were mailed a few weeks ago for more information.  If you have not received one or would like to be added to our invitation list call Chris Atkinson or Merika Strivens, 806-495-3173.
