Alumni Football: Idalou vs. Post

Saturday, 9/17, 7:30 p.m. at Redman Stadium

Published Sept. 16, 2011 @ 5:06 p.m.

The Bolder, Golder and a little bit older Post Antelopes will take the field Saturday night starting at 7:30 at Jimmie Redman Memorial Stadium in Post.  They'll take on their counter parts from Idalou.

The event is organized by Alumni Football USA. Info on the web site says "this positive & exciting community event has many former players eager and proud to REPRESENT THEIR SCHOOL one more time."

The organizers also claim that "this is a serious, spectacular, one-time-per-year football game with community players representing their high schools! The players are more mature, bigger, stronger, thicker, wiser, and maybe a step slower, but they still hit, tackle, score and the fans love them!"

The players have practiced without pads and will receive all the football equipment they need a few hours before the game.  They'll play under current high school rules with referees and twelve minute quarters.

Post put a team together for a game last April and will have very much the same cast of characters with a few new names added to the roster.  The line-up for Saturday night at press time included:  Chess Garcia, Victor Soto, Bryan Looney, DJ Rivera, Colt Mason, Frank Reyna, David Rivera, Tobe Palmer, Justin Harris, Trey Jones, Josh Lee, Frankie Orona, Jonathan Curtis, Tyler Odom, Traven Smith, Jace Pollard, Alex Moreno, Brad Naron, Brandon Perez, Will Todd, Jay Cooper, Kevin James and Brody Robertson.

Tickets are $8.00, ages 10 and under are free.
