The two items on the agenda for a special meeting of the Commissioners’ Court of Garza County on Oct. 12  the recent redistricting considerations for County Commissioners Court precincts.

The Commissioners approved "all the necessary adjustments" as presented to the court.  The Commissioners also authorized Allison, Bass & Associates, LLP redistricting counsel, to prepare and submit to the United States Department of Justice (USDOJ) a submission seeking pre-clearance of all Garza County election boundaries, voting places and procedures related to the redistricting of Garza County, Texas.

The approved redistricting plan will affect some Garza County voters next year.  According to Garza County Tax Assessor Judy Bush new voter cards will be distributed in December of this year.  "It is important to pay special attention to your voting location" on the new cards," Bush advised.  Any changes would be in effect for the 2012 Primary Election.  If a resident's county precinct number has changed with the redistricting, that would also be noted on the new voter cards.
