Published Nov. 2, 2011 @ 9:49 a.m.

Author and photographer Rick Vanderpool will be at Ruby Lane Books, 127 E. Main in Post Thursday, Nov. 3, 1 to 3 p.m. to sign copies of "The Texas Hamburger: History of a Lone Star Icon."  Holly's Drive In in Post is one of the hamburger "joints" mentioned in the book.

Vanderpool and his hamburger book will be featured on Texas Country Reporter scheduled to run Sunday, Nov. 6, 8 a.m. on KCBD-TV, Lubbock.

The author traveled 11,000 miles looking for the best hamburgers in Texas.  He photographed roughly 750 joints and tasted several of the best of the best Texas burgers.  "The Texas Hamburger" is a fun read and a great gift for folks who like to enjoy offbeat "tours" in Texas.

According to The Road Trip Destination Guide "This book is a road trip journal and potential resource for any of you charting the less-traveled byways and destinations."  From Fletcher Davis's 1885 Athens creation (recipe included) and the Cheeseburger Capital of Texas in Friona to Whataburger #2 in Corpus Christi and Holly's in Post, Vanderpool celebrates the colorful history of the original Texas hamburger.
