Football Playoffs Begin
Friday - Stamford and Olton Come to Post

The Texas high school football playoff season officially starts on Thursday. And if you're looking for more high school gridiron thrills, you won't have to travel far.
Friday night at 7:30, Jimmie Redman Memorial Stadium is the site for a 1A, Division I Bi-district battle between the Olton Mustangs (7-3) vs. the Stamford Bulldogs (8-2). Olton is from District 3 and finished in second place behind Sundown. Stamford, of District 4, placed third behind Seymour and Albany (1st).
Other games of interest to local football fans this weekend include District 2-2A teams Coahoma (6-4) vs. Spearman (8-2), 7:30 p.m. Friday at Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldog Stadium in Plainview. And Sanford-Fritch (5-5) vs. Forsan (7-3), 7:30 p.m. Saturday, also at Greg Sherwood Memorial Bulldog Stadium in Plainview. Idalou, the district champs (9-1), has a bye this week and will play the winner of the Henrietta vs. Hamilton game.
Former district foe Abernathy (9-1) and champions of District 1-2A, also drew a bye and will play the winner of the Crawford vs Nocona game.
In six man football, Borden County (9-1) of Division 1, District 5-1A, plays Aspermont (9-1) Friday at 7:30 p.m. at Hermleigh High School.
