Antelope Booster Club Holds First Meeting

Club has Big Plans, Meet the Lopes Moved

Published July 27, 2011 @ 9:41 p.m.

President Greg Jones called the first meeting of the 2011-2012 Antelope Athletic Booster Club to order Monday evening, July 25th, at the Post High School library.

The club closed out last year deciding to go bigger and better with a new entrance tunnel for the varsity football games.  The inflatable Bold Gold helmut stands 20 feet tall with a 15 foot long adjoining tunnel.  Jones explained that the booster club is selling advertising spots on the side of the tunnel.  Some sponsorships have been sold and there is still room for more sponsors.

In attendance was new Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Steve Smith.  The coach suggested holding Meet the Lopes after the first scrimmage which is scheduled for Saturday, August 13 against Ralls.  The club members obliged with their votes.  Attendees to the event will have the first look at the 2011 Bold Gold football team in action followed by an introduction of the players.  Food and spirit merchandise will be sold.  This will also be a time for the fans to meet Post's first volleyball team, the cross country team, the cheerleaders and the Pride of Post band.  The scrimmage with Ralls gets underway at 10:00am starting with the junior varsity followed by the varsity.  After a water break, the Meet the Lopes session will begin at Jimmie Redman Memorial Stadium.

Since Meet the Lopes is before the start of the school year, the booster club will hold a special event to introduce the junior high teams and cheerleaders after August 22.

Other actions taken at the booster club meeting included buying both football and volleyball t-shirts, spirit wristbands and caps.  All for sale to the public.  Also, to procede in finding a photographer for individual and team pictures, and to purchase digital video cameras for the athletic department.

The Antelope Athletic Booster Club is a not-for-profit spirit organization that promotes all the athletic activities at Post Independent School District.  Donations are accepted and memberships are encouraged.  A business membership is $50 and a personal $25.  Members receive free programs at the home football games and are voting participants at the meetings.  For details contact Greg Jones at 806-773-0727.
