Parents and rodeo hands prepare for the next Muttin Buster to come out of the shoot on Friday at the 71st Post Stampede Rodeo.

Another Fun and Exciting Rodeo

Brogan Macy wins barrels

Real and "wannabe" cowgirls and cowboys experienced the action of the 71st Post Stampede Rodeo last Thursday through Saturday at the rodeo arena.  And as is typical, the annual event brought rain with it, at least opening night.  The half-inch of precipitation brought smiles to faces but didn't hamper the fun.

Jody Nix and the Texas Cowboys were on stage Friday night with Saturday night’s band being the Wes Nickson Band for the dances immediately following the rodeo performances.

Post's toast of the weekend event was Brogan Macy, daughter of Mike and Kelly, who placed first in the barrel races with a time of 17.689.  The other event winners were:  Bareback - Matt Bennett, Canyon; Saddle Bronc - Brody Bolton, Gardendale; Ranch Bronc - Zach Schaver, Knott City; Bull Riding - Clint Miller, Godley; Calf Roping - Kyle Dutton, Las Cruces, NM; Breakaway - Cassidy Boggs, Clint; Steer Wrestling - James Winders, Earth; Team Roping Header - Josh Siggans, Ruidoso Downs, NM; and Team Roping Healer - Jay Dee Logan, Lovington, NM.
